How to be, or not to be
How to thrive when the pressure is on?
Self-actualization and self-preservation are two faces of the urge to live that pulse through all our days. During a pandemic, should we stay at home, safe and snug watching shadows move across the kitchen wall; or should we participate more fully and choose to risk it? How to be or not to be?

image details
A horizontal row of four 5x7" images, in warm muted tones, show the corner of a kitchen. Subtle overlays on each hint at daydreams, although the kitchen background remains unchanged. Staying home.
Above the four small images a curtain rod supports two window blinds. The blinds each have two images of activities framed by the repeated motif of kitchen shadows. However, in this grouping the shadows have morphed into dark discordant frames that surround and threaten sketches of four proposed pleasurable activities. Going out.

Installation dimensions variable, approx 200 x 120cm. Diptych mounted on linen stitched Aquarelle and curtain rod with four images, pigment ink on Prolab and Washi papers. Below, four Baryta prints.
