falling gently, more white than grey,
furling then unfurling again and again
now faster or slower,
a pause, a catch, a laugh, a struggle
breathe again

My long-standing delight with clouds has recently benefited from a resurgence due to the nature of my work schedule which is often seeded with brief, opportunistic, irregular gaps.
When it is nice weather, and by that I mean cloudy weather, which, thankfully, is most days, well, then I like to take pause in my travels, find a little bit of open space and look up. Sometimes its in a park or a vacant block of land, occasionally a rooftop parking lot but that doesn’t really matter (as long as I don’t get arrested or run out of battery). The main thing is an uninterrupted view of the everchanging sky.
Some months ago now, I was prompted/challenged via fb to show “more” clouds, and the name of Alfred Stieglitz was mentioned along with something called equivalence I thought.
Alfred Stieglitz (1864–1946) an eminent professional photographer who was provoked into creating a series of photographs of clouds, called. At first he called them songs of the sky, but later he named them Equivalents for the representation of inner life.
In the series b r e a t h I have selected 6 images which could easily represent inner emotional states or thoughts, for musings on Chaos theory, anxiety or falling in love…
They are Slow Art.
